IMG 7092 Maidan Nezalezhnosti. The main square of Kiev. IMG 7093 IMG 7094 We had something to eat at O'Brien's. An Irish Pub here in Kiev. We are now finding our way to the football ground. IMG 7095
IMG 7096 The building on the right with the curtain, that one was hit by a fire with the riots in Kiev. IMG 7098 This is the Dynamo Kiev Stadium and the name is Valeri Lobanovsky. Feyenoord played Dynamo Kiev twice, but everytime we had to go to the NSK Olimpiyskyi stadium, the bigger one. FC Zorya Luhansk v Feyenoord will be played in the Valeri Lobanovsky stadium. 20140820 090808 On Wednesday August 20th 2014 we took a tour around Chernobyl. 20140820 090815 20140820 090853 IMG 6931
IMG 6933 This is the entrance into the 30km zone. IMG 6934 IMG 6935 IMG 6937 The town of Chernobyl.
IMG 6939 0,14 microsieverts. The normal level is 0,11. And that is in the most cities around in Europe. If you fly in a passengers aircraft you have a higher level of microsieverts. IMG 6940 IMG 6941 IMG 6942 This is a statue at the fire department in Chernobyl.
IMG 6943 IMG 6944 IMG 6945 This is equipment which has been used after the disaster. IMG 6946
IMG 6947 This is near a kindergarten. If you keep this device at grass level, it will be much higher. Could be approx 15.35 microsieverts IMG 6948 IMG 6949 IMG 6950
IMG 6951 IMG 6952 IMG 6953 IMG 6954
IMG 6957 IMG 6958 IMG 6961 IMG 6962
IMG 6963 In the middle the Nuclear Power Plant of Chernobyl. Left is the new Sarcophagus, which will be placed over Reactor 4. IMG 6964 Left, an unfinished cooling tower. In the same state as in 1986. They never, just like the next picture, continued the construction. IMG 6965 This should have been reactor number 5 and 6. After the disaster, they never have completed the nuclear plant. So the situation is just as they left it in 1986. Including the building cranes. IMG 6967
IMG 6968 IMG 6969 Not too bad. IMG 6972 IMG 6973
IMG 6974 We were not allowed to take a picture of this facility. IMG 6975 IMG 6978 Reactor number 4. IMG 6979 Approx 200 meter from Reactor 4.
IMG 6980 The new sarcophagus IMG 6981 The level is 3.48 microsieverts. The 'funny' thing is, if you stand between the device and the reactor, the level is less. IMG 6982 IMG 6983
IMG 6984 The abandon city of Pripyat. IMG 6985 IMG 6986 IMG 6987 Your city is lively and when you abandon your city and leave it for 28 years, this will be the result.
IMG 6988 IMG 6989 This is the central square of Pripyat. IMG 6990 IMG 6991
IMG 6992 IMG 6993 The local supermarket. IMG 6994 IMG 6996
IMG 6998 The opening of this funpark was scheduled on May 1st 1986. They only opened the park for a few hours on April 27th 1986, a day after the nuclear disaster, after the 27th is would never be opened again. By May 1st this city was evacuated (45.000 people). IMG 6999 IMG 7000 IMG 7001
IMG 7002 IMG 7003 IMG 7004 IMG 7005
IMG 7006 IMG 7008 IMG 7009 IMG 7011
IMG 7012 IMG 7013 IMG 7014 IMG 7015
IMG 7018 IMG 7019 IMG 7020 IMG 7024
IMG 7025 This was the footpath to the swimmingpool. IMG 7026 IMG 7027 IMG 7028
IMG 7030 IMG 7032 IMG 7036 IMG 7037
IMG 7039 IMG 7041 IMG 7042 IMG 7045
IMG 7047 IMG 7050 This is approx 150 m high and about 800 meters wide. IMG 7051 IMG 7053 The Russians used this to track USA missiles. This facility is within the 30km zone around the Nuclear Plant of Chernobyl.
IMG 7054 IMG 7055 20140820 161428 After the Chernobyl Tour we had a lunch in this building. This is in Chernobyl town it self. The microsieverts level is here around 0.14 - 0.20. IMG 7062 This is the main entrance of our hostel.
IMG 7133 20140821 094214 This elevator leads you to the hostel on the 6th floor. 20140821 094332 20140820 190748
20140820 190809 Our rooms were the first door on the right. Every morning you have to share 1 shower with all the people on board. This might take 5 hours before eveybody of your group has been in the shower. So if you are not in a hurry.......go here. 20140820 192507 Between the hostel and O'Brien's (Irish Pub) you have this wall. You can see the floodlights of the ground. 20140821 182416 20140822 212631 The Irish Pub O'Brien's.
20140822 212638 20140822 212644 20140823 001619 600 of these things is about 33 euro. That 10 is Vodka. And the 7 is Pepsi. IMG 7064 In Kiev.
